Pharoah

Shadow king of thy people strong
You lift thy hand and lay it long
With crook and flail and summoned gong
And justice swift, right or wrong

But none know your secret heart
A mind that wanders and will not depart
A glorious poet as yet unheard
You will change it all with a single word

The sunrise etched upon her face
Your bride beauty and of grace
You create anew a city of stone
The world will shutter or atone

And glorious homage to your god
Pyramid towers and lakes unshod
Loved your people and world of peace
Yet priests hatred would not crease

And betrayal of your council wronged
Its dream died and stilled thy song
And in the end your crown torn down
Your city barren beauties frown
